Treading Lightly : on sites of heterotopia

Treading Lightly is a means of negotiating time and space, of navigating loss and of performing what remains of the complex landscape of Rivington Terraced Gardens, a local heritage site on the outskirts of Bolton.  I am interested in what remains and calls me back; in the vestiges of its once elegant Ballroom, the mournful Japanese Lake and overgrown Italian Gardens. Through experimental film and printmaking I have responded to themes of transience, loss and nostalgia that lie within the gardens.  Treading Lightly promises far more than the surfaces I have scratched and the traces I have left behind.
Treading Lightly - more here:  In Certain Places

The first of my Treading Lightly images below was featured in Fabrizio Paterlini - Piano Microstories - The Eighth Note.  (Jan 2020)
This publication flows with the aura of Fabrizio Paterlini's Microstories, reflecting the organic notions of visual art against the written while culminating them into a delicate yet minimal aesthetic, enabling the art to speak for itself against the atmospheric dialect of Paterlini’s music
